New Jersey Board of Pharmacy (BOP)
- The BOP consists of 11 members: 2 public members, 1 executive, and 8 pharmacists.
- Pharmacists must have at least 5 years of experience in NJ, an active license, and be currently practicing.
- There must be at least 1 pharmacist from a chain retailer and 1 from a health system.
- The BOP is under the NJ Division of Consumer Affairs within the NJ Department of Law and Public Safety.
- A president and vice president are elected annually from within the BOP membership.
- The executive director of the BOP must be a licensed NJ pharmacist.
- The Governor appoints BOP members. Professional pharmacy associations can recommend qualified pharmacists.
- Board members serve 5-year terms, with a maximum of two consecutive full terms.
- Members appointed to fill vacancies serve the remainder of the unexpired term plus two additional full terms.
- The board meets at least monthly.
Licensure Requirements
