Study Notes
Pharmaceutical Calculation Basics
- Calculating Body Mass Index (BMI): BMI = weight (kg) / height (m)^2
- Calculating Percentage of Drug: Percentage of Drug = (Drug X / (Drug X + Excipient)) x 100%
- Calculating Months of Medication: The patient is entitled to 3 months of ramipril (1 month x 12 / 4).
- Dispensing Tablets or Capsules: The patient will receive 42 capsules (250 mg x 2 caps x 3 times a day x 5 days). The patient will receive 20 prednisolone tablets (5 mg x 4 tablets x 2/day x 1 week). Therefore, a greater number of capsules will be dispensed.
Imperial Units and SI Equivalents
- Mass: 1 ounce (oz) = 28.35 g, 1 pound (lb) = 453.59 g, 1 stone (st) = 6.35 kg
