    About the Qualification

    • Pearson Edexcel International GCSE in German is a linear qualification, with all units assessed at the end of the course.

    • Listening skills are assessed in Paper 1, reading and writing skills in Paper 2, and speaking skills in Paper 3.

    How the Qualification is Assessed

    • The listening examination (Paper 1) is 30 minutes long and worth 25% of the qualification. It consists of seven tasks, each based on a single recorded text.
    • The combined reading and writing examination (Paper 2) lasts 1 hour and 45 minutes and is worth 50% of the qualification. It is divided into two sections: reading and writing and grammar.

    Speaking Exam Details

    • The speaking examination must conducted entirely in German and must be in one continuous session.

    • The examiner also randomly selects a discussion topic for Task C from the same grid.
    • Students may not bring notes into the examination, but are allowed to bring their picture for Task A.
