Engine Response Changes
- Effective date for new protocol is 2/29/24.
- Engine 705 will operate as a "heavy engine" during vehicle entrapment incidents.
- If Heavy Rescue's ETA exceeds 5 minutes and Heavy Engine (E705) is closer, E705 will be included in the response package.
Incident Command Autonomy
- Incident commanders have the authority to cancel further units based on conditions found on the scene.
Geographic Response Areas
- Areas marked in red indicate regions where the Heavy Engine response protocol will be enforced.
- For entrapment calls south of Station 5, E705 will be the primary rescue resource.
Equipment Availability
- Units on Kiawah and Seabrook currently equipped with only a combi-tool.
- Full equipment set (cutters, spreaders, rams) available on Engine 705.
