NSTP Overview

• NSTP is a program designed to promote patriotism, civic duty, and preparedness among Filipino youth
• NSTP was enacted in 2001 (RA 9163) and replaced ROTC
• NSTP gives students three options: ROTC, CWTS, and LTS

• The Department of the Interior & Local Government (DILG), the National Youth Commission (NYC), & the Department of Social Welfare & Development (DSWD) have established special education drug centers for out-of-school youth & street children
• The centers conduct programs for education, life skills training, and provide access to existing NYC programs

Youth Role in Drug Detection and Prevention

• Youth groups can play a vital role in drug abuse prevention campaigns and programs
• Youth organizations can work with other youth groups, conduct “Just Say NO” campaigns, organize presentations, and engage in outreach activities
• Youth organizations can organize contests, show films, and facilitate dialogues with role models

• Civic participation is crucial in nation-building
• NSTP aims to foster lifelong commitment to community service
