Study Notes

Purpose is to establish clear expectations for employees reporting for duty to ensure operational effectiveness and member safety.
Punctuality is essential; all members must be ready to perform duties by 0700 hours and report to their lieutenant or designated roll call location.
Members must remain on-duty until relieved and are responsible for briefing from the member being relieved upon entering the station.
Readiness for duty includes:
- Wearing the proper uniform.
- Equipping and checking gear and equipment on assigned apparatus.
- Ensuring SCBA and PASS devices are operational.
- Verifying portable radio functionality with a full battery.
- Conducting a visual check of ambulances for necessary medical equipment.
The supervising Lieutenant or acting Lieutenant must ensure:
- Fitness for duty of firefighters.
- Proper personnel relief and uniform compliance.
- Communication of apparatus assignments to the crew.
- Completion of necessary checks and documentation.
- Crew possession of portable radios.
- Review of station notes from the previous two shifts and all unread district emails.
- Briefing on the day's training and schedule from the shift battalion chief.
The change of shift must be documented, including personnel, assignments, and any deficiencies noted.

Members must wear the designated uniform and approved protective equipment when performing assigned activities, upholding the uniform policy.
Adherence to the Personal Appearance Standard Policy is necessary, which covers grooming and overall personal presentation.
Cleanliness standards must be upheld; uniforms, personal spaces, and equipment should remain tidy. Persistent cleanliness issues should be addressed promptly with the member involved.
