- The FDA is the national health product regulatory agency, created by Republic Act 3720, amended by Executive Order 175 and RA 9711
- Regulates drugs, medical devices, food, cosmetics, toys, and household/urban hazardous substances
- The FDA's main goal is to ensure the health and safety of food and drugs available to the public
Administrative Orders
- Administrative Order No. 62 (1968): General regulations for enforcing food, drug, and cosmetic acts (B-5 special dietary foods) to ensure safe/good quality food, drug, and cosmetics. Regulates production, sale, and traffic to protect people's health.
- Administrative Order No. 2014-0030: Amended certain provisions of Administrative Order No. 88-B (1984) regarding the rules and regulations governing the labeling of prepackaged food products in the Philippines.
- Administrative Order No. 153 (2004): Revised Guidelines on Current Good Manufacturing Practice in manufacturing, packing, repacking, or holding food. To ensure the quality and safety of food products, covering people/establishments manufacturing, packaging, repacking or holding food. Ensuring that these processes take place under sanitary conditions, using clean equipment.

- Created by Presidential Decree 491 (1974)
- Highest policy-making and coordinating body on nutrition in Philippines.
- Chaired by the Secretary of Health, composed of 10 government organizations and 3 private sector representatives appointed by President, 2-year terms/renewable.
- Its mandate includes the formulation of national food and nutrition policies and strategies
- Coordinating national nutrition programs; releasing funds, loans, and grants from government and non-government organisations; seeking help from other government bodies when needed.
