Manager/Supervisor Responsibilities
- Understand and uphold the principles of the workplace violence policy
- Communicate the policy and its guidelines to all employees
- Conduct workplace violence risk assessments to determine potential risks to employees
- Consult with Joint Health & Safety Committees (JHSCs)/OHS Representatives, assigned People & Equity/divisional health & safety staff, and Corporate Security to develop practical measures to control identified risks
- Take all reasonable and practical measures to minimize or eliminate identified risks
- Review risk assessments at least annually and when there are changes to the workplace or work conditions
- Communicate risk assessment results and measures to minimize or eliminate risks to staff
Workplace Violence Risk Assessments
- Conduct further risk assessments when an increase in the number or severity of workplace violence incidents is noted
- Review and revise risk assessments as needed
Investigation and Reporting of Workplace Violence
- Maintain and follow the process for reporting, investigating, documenting, and debriefing incidents of violence
- Respond promptly to reported incidents of workplace violence and take appropriate action
- Ensure all known incidents of workplace violence are investigated
- Consult with other parties as necessary, document incidents, and share results with the joint health and safety committee/health and safety representative and workers involved
