Study Notes
Procedures for LNG Transfer to Tanks 1-3
- Before starting the transfer, perform all Safety and Initial Inspection and Preparation procedures.
- Personnel must monitor flow rates, liquid levels, and tank pressures during the transfer to prevent overpressure and filling.
- These procedures are only for LNG transfer to Tanks 1-3. Refer to SOP S1-6244 for transfer to Tank 4.
- Contracted LNG drivers cannot perform transfers into Tank 4 without IGU assistance.
- To prepare the transport for transfer, set chocks, connect ground, and connect LNG transfer hose to the liquid out pipe of the transport.
- Inside the control building, start all necessary paperwork and determine which tank to fill.
- To pressurize the hose from the valve to the transport, slowly open valve V-902 fully on the APE hose.
- Purge the transfer hose and piping before the transfer.
- If the target tank being filled will become full before the transport empties, open the top fill valve of another storage tank before the target tank is full.
- After the transport is empty, crack the transfer and APE hose connection at the transport to allow the remaining trapped gas and liquid vapor to escape while the connection is still attached.
- Before leaving the storage site, the operator must check that all storage tank, transfer and transport valves are returned to their desired open or closed positions as indicated by this procedure.
- The operator must also ensure that all transport and man gates are locked, all pressure indicating controllers are at standard settings, and the transfer data checklist sheet is complete and left at the site.
