Completing Routine Inspections

  • Review all items from the inspection checklist during a Routine Inspection
  • If unable to complete the inspection report within normal working hours, suspend the inspection and complete the report
  • Return to the facility within five working days and complete the Routine Inspection
  • Ensure all items not covered in the first visit are reviewed

Risk Assessment

  • All non-compliance from the Routine Inspection must be included in the Risk Assessment form
  • The Risk Assessment Tool only pulls non-compliance from the last Routine inspection posted in the database
  • Does not pull non-compliance from other inspection types, including Routine Follow-up Inspections

Procedure for Ensuring Non-Compliance in Risk Assessment

  • Document in the Initial Observation that the type of inspection was not concluded on the first visit and will be completed on a specified date
  • Document in the Initial Observation that the type of inspection was a continuation of the type of inspection started on the first visit date and occurred on the second visit date
  • Delete the statement from the First Visit
  • Document non-compliant items, observations, and actions required in the Violation Card Field
  • Clearly identify in the observation section of the violation card that the non-compliance was noted on the Routine Inspection continuation/second visit
  • Date Cited: Date of first visit
  • Date Entered: Date of first visit

Using Mobile Devices and Database

  • Use the database and a hotspot to complete inspection reports
