- Masculinity describes societies with distinct gender roles; men are assertive and focused on success, while women are modest and concerned with quality of life. High Masculine countries are competitive. High feminine countries are consensus-oriented.

- Uncertainty avoidance is how cultures differ in their tolerance for unpredictability and the unknown.
