Islamic Worldview Characteristics
- Al-Rabbaniyyah (Divine origin): Divinely-revealed guidance originated from a divine source and ordained by Allah with all its constituents and characteristics.
- Al-Tawhid (the Oneness of Allah): The absolute and uncompromising Oneness of Allah, the central creed and core of Islam, stating that there is no God but Allah, worthy of worship, veneration, and obedience.
- Al-Thabat (The Permanent Realities): The true religion is Islam. Allah perfected the religion for humanity.
- Al-Shumul (Comprehensive): Islam is for all time and aspects of life.
- Al-Tawazun/Al-Wasatiyyah (Balance): Balanced creation of the entire Cosmos, including physical universes, and the unseen universe (e.g. angels). Also, the concept of excellence and a rightfully balanced approach.
- Al-Waqiyyah (Realism / Practicality): Relevant in all different periods of human development, in line with human nature. The Islamic worldview must remain practical.
- Al-Ijabiyyah (Dynamism): Active relationships of Allah with His creations, the universe, life, and humankind. Man’s relationships with self and with others (global, social).
Understanding the term Rabb
- Rabb means true and complete owner, obeyable and one who nourishes and sustains.
- It means Tawhid of Allah in His Actions, meaning only Allah nourishes, gives life, and sustains, and nothing else has this right.
- Tarbiyah is derived from the same root, meaning to take care of everything, which Allah does.
- Rabb represents the one who is obeyed, guiding towards a goal of completion.
The Oneness of Allah (Al-Tawhid)
- La ilaha illa Allah: There is no god but Allah (meaning one true God).
- Everything in the Cosmos provides indications of Allah.
Permanent (Al-Thabat)
- Islam is described as the true religion with Allah.
- Allah's message is protected and preserved.
- This encompasses permanence of Islamic worldview.
Comprehensive ('Shumul')
- For the entire humanity, for all aspects of life.
- Covers every aspect of worship, creed, and law.
Rightful Balance ('Tawāzun')
- Balanced creation of the entire Cosmos.
- Including the physical and the unseen universes.
- Concepts of excellence, balance, just and rightful.
Realism / Practicality (Al-Waqi'iyyah)
- Relevant throughout different periods of human development.
- Unchangeable fundamentals within frameworks of permanent realities.
- Branching issues consider circumstances.
Dynamism (Al-Ijabiyyah)
- Active relationships of Allah with His creations, including the universe and humankind.
- Man’s relationships with self, and with others (personal, social, global) in spheres of activities.
The Creator (Al-Khaliq)
- Allah created everything, and everything in creation gives praise to Allah.
- Different terms used in the Quran for Allah's act of creating.
- E.g., "Bada'a", meaning the creation that traces back to beginning.
The Owner of the Kingdom (Al-Malik)
- Real authority, self-sufficient in Himself and His attributes.
- Needs nothing; all things in existence need Him.
- The term 'mulk' has been mentioned 206 times in the Quran.
- Points to power, ability, possession, and ownership.
The All-Wise (Al-Hakim)
- The judicious.
- His wisdom is ultimate and does not create or legislate in vain.
- Creations are signs.
- His decrees, inflicts and relieves are in the most rightful way, place, and time.

- Tawhid, the core of Islam, permeates every aspect of existence. encompassing beliefs, morality, physical, spiritual, social, intellectual aspects, and civilization.
