  • It facilitates the relationship between trade unions, employers, and employees, defining their rights and obligations in the workplace.
  • Labour law covers various aspects, including:
    • Industrial relations, certification of unions, labour-management relations, collective bargaining, and unfair labour practices.
    • Employment standards, such as general holidays, annual leave, working hours, unfair dismissals, minimum wage, layoff procedures, and severance pay.
    • Workplace health and safety.

Types of Labour Law

  • There are two major types of labour law:
