Purpose
- All personnel are responsible for ensuring that all department equipment is accounted for and in proper working condition.
- Personnel must return all equipment used during work assignments to its proper location.
Policy
- Upon discovering missing or damaged equipment, notifications must be made following the outlined procedure.
Procedure for Missing Equipment
- If equipment is discovered missing, the employee must verbally notify their Company Officer.
- If the equipment is not located by the end of the shift, the Company Officer must:
- Send an email to the Shift Commander outlining the circumstances of the missing equipment, attempts made to locate it, and any other relevant information.
- Copy the email to the Division Head responsible for the missing equipment.
- Complete a work order and station pass-on sheet entry.
- On the next shift day, the Shift Commander must forward a memo and supporting documentation to the Deputy Fire Chief-Administration.
Procedure for Damaged Equipment
- If equipment is discovered damaged, the employee must verbally notify their Company Officer.
- The damaged equipment must be:
- Removed from service.
- Documented with a work order and station pass-on sheet entry.
- Prior to the end of the shift, the Company Officer must:
