Geology Regulation in the Philippines

• An Accredited Professional Organization (APO) is a professional organization accredited by the Board of Geology and the Professional Regulation Commission.
• Continuing Professional Education (CPE) refers to the acquisition of knowledge, skills, and values that raise and enhance a professional's technical skills and competence.

Scope of Practice

• A person is deemed to be practicing geology when they undertake geological work for a fee, salary, or remuneration in government, industry, or the academe.
• The scope of practice of a geologist includes:
  • General geological surveying and mapping.
  • Exploration for metallic and non-metallic mineral resources.
  • Geological exploration for energy resources.
  • Study of geohazards.
  • Hydrogeological studies.
  • Investigation and study of rock and soil characteristics.
  • Gathering, processing, and evaluation of geologic data.
  • Preparation of geological reports.
  • Teaching of geological courses.
  • Other geologic work or services that constitute the practice of geology.
