The Southeast region encompasses 12 states: Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina, Tennessee, Kentucky, Virginia, and West Virginia.

Average yearly precipitation in the Southeast is 50 inches.
Generally warm with lots of sunshine, summers often reach the 90s with high humidity.
Winters are mild, with occasional light snow in northern states.
Southern Florida has a tropical climate with minimal freezing temperatures.
Hurricanes occur between June and November.
The Atlantic coast experiences Nor'easters, especially in fall and winter.
The region features lowlands, mountains, harbors, and wetlands.
The Atlantic Coastal Plain includes lowlands and harbors.
Significant mountain ranges include the Appalachian Mountains, Great Smoky Mountains, and Blue Ridge Mountains.
Swamps, wetlands, and marshes are notable geographical features.
Deltas, formed by the Mississippi River emptying into the Gulf of Mexico, are a key feature of southern Louisiana.
The Outer Banks of North Carolina have barrier islands.

Nonrenewable: Coal, phosphate, bauxite ore, petroleum.
