Driver Loading Procedure - Fleet Way
- Pre-Shift Confirmation: Confirm details like terminals, products, quantities, and destinations.
- Terminal Entry: Enter the terminal slowly, following posted instructions. Each terminal has specific rules. Signal arrival using the ASR driver app.
- Stop Line Procedures: Stop at the "Stop Line" before entering the rack, turn off electronics, and check for spills/defects. Select the appropriate rack. Put on PPE (Personal Protective Equipment).
- Exiting the Tractor: Exit the tractor cab following a three-point stance at the Stop Line.
- Visual Inspection: Visually inspect the tractor and trailer for defects before entering the terminal rack.
- Rack Entry: Re-enter the truck cab using a three-point stance; pull into designated location for the terminal rack; shut off engine and electronics. Do not back up once in the rack.
- Cellular Phone Use: Never use a cell phone while under the trailer loading rack.
- Trailer Valve Check: Ensure all internal trailer valves are closed.
- Product Compatibility: Double-check that the last product on the trailer is compatible with the new product being loaded.
- Empty Trailer Required: The trailer must be empty before loading any product.
- Brake Interlock Check: Release the brake interlock bar and visually inspect for defects. Connect the scully cable to the trailer.
- Ground Connection: Connect to the independent ground, if present.
- Vapor Recovery Hose Inspection: Ensure the vapor recovery hose is clear and the gaskets are in good condition. Connect it to the trailer.
- Loading Head Preparation: Remove dust covers from bottom loading heads.
- Product Marker Placement: Check products to be loaded and set corresponding markers on the trailer.
- Loading Arm Connection: Connect terminal rack loading arms to the loading heads. Keep body centered behind the arms.
- Loading Arm Verification: Double-check the loading arm identification matches the desired product.
- Trailer Valve Opening: Open internal trailer valves.
- Computer Entry: Enter correct information (account number and product) into the terminal rack computer.
Loading Process
- Product Type & Destination Verification: Ensure the product type, quantity, and destination match the loading instructions. Notify dispatch immediately if discrepancies exist.
- Quantity Programming: Program the amount of gallons to be loaded into each compartment.
- Complete Checklist Before Start: Triple-check all settings before starting product flow to prevent leaks.
- Flow Monitoring: Stay at the trailer rack controls throughout the entire loading process.
- Repeat Process per Order: If required, repeat for all customer products.
- Do Not Overfill/Spill: Ensure the loading process doesn't overfill or spill.
- Confirm Loading Quantity: Ensure the actual gallons loaded match the customer's order.
- Trailer Arm Disconnection: Follow disconnection procedures for all loading arms.
- Vapor Recovery Hose Securing: Disconnect and properly store the vapor recovery hose.
- Cable Disconnection: Securely disconnect and store the scully cable and ground cable.
- Trailer/Truck Visual Inspection: Execute a visual inspection of the trailer prior to exiting.
- Retrieving Bill of Lading: Retrieve the Bill of Lading and perform a final inspection.
- Returning to Truck/Exit: Carefully enter the truck and exit the terminal safely. Use the proper stance for exit.
- Documentation: Enter the correct gallons loaded and BOL number into the driver app.
