Driver Loading Procedure - Fleet Way
- Pre-Loading: Do not leave dispatch without understanding product, quantity, and destination requirements. Enter terminal slowly, following instructions, and signal arrival via app. Stop at the "Stop Line" before entering the rack. Turn off all electronics and check for spills/defects.
- Rack Selection & Prep: Select appropriate rack for products. Wear required PPE. Exit the cab using a three-point stance. Visually inspect the tractor and trailer for defects. Re-enter the cab using a three-point stance.
- Parking & Terminal Entry: Pull into terminal rack slowly. Watch for obstructions. Park at designated spot; never back up once in the rack. Exit cab using three-point stance. Never use cell phones during loading. Ensure all interior trailer valves are closed.
- Pre-Loading Checks: Verify the last product on the trailer is compatible with the next product. The trailer must be empty. Release brake interlock and visually inspect for defects. Connect scully cable and ground if applicable. Inspect vapor recovery hose. Remove dust covers from bottom loading heads.
- Loading Prep: Check and set product markers on trailer. Connect terminal rack loading arms to loading heads; keep your body centered behind the arm. Double check arm identification matches. Open internal trailer valves. Enter correct information into the computer; include account number and product details.
- Loading Process: Program gallon amounts. Verify all settings before starting loading process. Start product flow and monitor for leaks, remain at controls throughout the entire process. Repeat for all customer requests (double and triple check), and immediately report any malfunctions. Stop loading if overfilling or spilling occurs. Verify gallon amounts match customer order.
- Post-Loading Checks: Close all trailer internal valves. Disconnect and properly stow loading arms. Replace and secure dust covers on loading heads; disconnect and secure vapor recovery hose, and scully cable/ground. Inspect the area. Pull back out of the rack and park in a designated location. Exit the cab using a three-point stance.
- Final Steps: Retrieve bill of lading. Inspect for accuracy. Re-enter the truck cab using a three-point stance. Enter loaded gallons and bill number. Exit terminal slowly, and avoid cell phone use.
