Examination Scheme - First Stage

  • Written Examination: Total marks: 200
  • General Awareness & Public Management: 100 marks (40 pass marks). Objective (MCQs) format; 20 questions; 45 minutes.
  • Job-Based Knowledge: 100 marks (40 pass marks). Subjective format; 30 questions worth 2 marks; 12 questions short answer; 4 questions long answer; 2 hours.

Examination Scheme - Second Stage

  • Interview: Total marks: 30
  • Oral (Interview): 30 marks

Notes

  • The exam is divided into two stages: written and interview.
  • The language of the written exam will be either Nepali or English or both.
  • Incorrect answers in the multiple choice questions reduce marks by 20%. Marks are not deducted if no answer is given
  • All Multiple Choice answers must be in UPPERCASE letters (A, B, C, or D). All other answers will be rejected . Using a calculator is not permitted in the Multiple Choice section
  • Several subjective questions can be asked about a topic (either in the form of a long or short answer or a statement requiring elaboration or multiple short notes.)
  • Separate answer sheets are required for different sections of the subjective exam. The student should answer questions in the designated sections of their answer sheet.
  • The questions, and weighting of marks, will be according to the relevant subject.
  • The syllabus for the exam covers any relevant laws, acts, rules, or policies in place 3 months before the exam date. Any new or changed items are considered valid part of the exam.
  • Only candidates who are successful in the first stage will be eligible for the second stage.
  • The syllabus for this exam replaces previous syllabi of any similar civil engineeing service exams.
