Part 1: Requirements and Duties

  • Fire guards must inspect assigned areas every hour, for smoke/fire hazards.

  • Check exits, stairways, hallways, and doors for blockage.
  • Ensure self-closing doors are not obstructed.
  • Check for emergency lighting, exit signs, and locations of portable fire extinguishers.

  • Keep an inspection record for at least 48 hours.
