Anno Domini (A.D.) and Before Christ (B.C.)
- A.D. (Anno Domini) – Latin for "Year of Our Lord"
- Used to number years in the Julian and Gregorian calendars after the birth of Jesus Christ (AD 1)
- The year before Jesus's birth is BC (Before Christ)
- The year of Christ's birth is AD 1, and the year Before Christ is 1 BC.
- Calculated in AD 525, but not widely used till after AD 800
