EMS Programs Guidelines

EMS Programs Coordinator and Medical Director supervise approval of initial certification programs through the Virginia Office of EMS.
Application for EMS training funds must follow guidelines outlined by the Virginia Office of EMS.
For BLS initial certification classes, the EMS Education Coordinator will apply during the course application.
For ALS initial certification classes, the JSRCC Program Coordinator will apply as part of the course application.

Funding and Reimbursement

All personnel must have the appropriate PPE with the correct color markings/identification to aid in task delegation and improved accountability on working operational incidents.

Training Requirements

New members joining the department must complete an orientation program and HIPAA medical/legal class.
Personnel must maintain "Recruit" status (Blue Helmet/Non-Entry) until they graduate the Academy (or equivalent) or EMT – Basic (or equivalent).
Upon completion of training, personnel shall receive full responder status.
All members responding to emergencies must also complete a minimum of Hazardous Materials – Awareness.
