Owner's Responsibilities
- Before applying for approval, the owner must test every circuit, except overhead lines, to ensure they can withstand the testing voltage set out in regulation 48 and record the results.
- The owner must not connect new apparatus or electric supply lines to the supply without approval from the Electrical Inspector.
Electrical Safety Officer
- The owner of an electrical installation with a connected load above 250 kW (or 2000 kW in mines and oil-fields) must designate an Electrical Safety Officer.
- The Electrical Safety Officer must:
- Have the required qualification and experience
- Carry out recommended periodic tests as per relevant standards
- Inspect installations at intervals not exceeding one year
- Keep records of tests, recommendations, and compliances made
Chartered Electrical Safety Engineer
- The Appropriate Government may authorise Chartered Electrical Safety Engineers to assist with self-certification under regulations 32 and 45.
- Chartered Electrical Safety Engineers must have the required qualification and experience.
