What Drives Green Building Market

• Regulations are instated to mandate minimum standards for energy performance and green building codes/incentives.

Defining features

• Must allow building designers to identify and select the lowest cost options to reach an agreed upon standard, and focus on verified energy, water, and materials savings.
• Requires information and incentives to each stakeholder in the building process.

Market Barriers

• Green building designs are uncommon in developing countries because Consumers and developers do not have sufficient awareness of its efficiency and resource saving benefits.
• In addition, there is limited access to financing or proper design to support green development, which discourages the promotion of more energy efficient options.

EDGE Program Overview

• IFC created EDGE to mainstream resource-efficient buildings in emerging markets as a voluntary standard was needed to align interests for innovation in building green and a reward innovative design.
• Aims to achieve a 20% EDGE certification penetration in target market with local and global certifications.

EDGE App

• Allows to calculate ROI via building platform offering location-specific energy modeling, and a financial calculator.
• It also offers user guidance for registration along with a solution for users, auditors, and certifiers from start to finish.

EDGE Progress Program

• There are currently Over 83 countries that have a total of nearly 7,000 projects certified.
• There are 994,000+ tons of Carbon Dioxide saved per year.

EDGE Measures

• The EDGE focus is using resources in buildings for energy, water, and materials.
• Delivered energy is used for energy consumption and EDGE Measures for direct emissions on site and emissions at the generation source.
• Return on investment is used for metrics on green elements.
