EDGE Expert training can be delivered by EDGE Faculty, Certification Providers, the EO&M Team, or designated third parties in specific scenarios.

EDGE Expert training must be approved by the EO&M Team if not delivered by EDGE Faculty or the EO&M Team.

The EDGE Certification Program relies on a system where different organizations collaborate to provide services to clients. These organizations include EDGE Certification Providers, EDGE Auditors, and EDGE Experts, and their roles & responsibilities are outlined in various EDGE Protocol documents.

The EDGE Expert is a professional who guides clients through the EDGE certification process by offering green design advice and help with application preparation.

EDGE Experts provide assistance to clients, but they do NOT conduct audits or issue EDGE Certificates. They act as advisors and help clients understand the EDGE Standard, Software, and Certification System. They also provide basic training on how to use the EDGE App.

In addition to basic training, EDGE Experts also provide advice on green design principles and the EDGE Standard requirements, and they can help clients prepare their applications for EDGE certification.

While clients are NOT required to use an EDGE Expert, they may choose to retain one if they require assistance. This is a good option for projects where the client needs additional support in understanding green design principles and navigating the EDGE Certification System.

Even though EDGE Experts are involved in assisting clients with their applications, they do NOT conduct the audits or issue the final EDGE Certificates. Those tasks are reserved for certified EDGE Auditors and EDGE Certification Providers, respectively.

EDGE Protocol documents are regularly updated, and it's important for all parties involved in the EDGE Certification Program to stay up-to-date with these changes. The EDGE Update Protocol, outlined in Chapter 7 of the EDGE Protocols, explains the process of updating these documents and the responsibilities of each party in implementing these changes.

The EDGE Protocol documents are a set of manuals that define the processes and standards for the EDGE Certification Program. These documents provide detailed information on the roles and responsibilities of various organizations involved in the program, including the EDGE Experts, EDGE Auditors, and EDGE Certification Providers.

EDGE Experts must maintain an active status to continue using the EDGE logo and 'EDGE Expert' designation.

EDGE Experts must avoid any potential conflict of interest, such as having business ties with the EDGE Certification Provider on the same project.

EDGE Experts can't take on the roles of EDGE Auditor or EDGE Certification Provider on the same project where they are already working as an expert. However, taking on roles outside the EDGE Certification System (like architect or engineer) is allowed.

The "EDGE Expert" designation and logo can be used by licensed EDGE Experts in their email signature or business cards.

EDGE Experts are limited to the scope of work described in the EDGE Expert Participation Agreement.

The EDGE App includes a Base Case which represents a hypothetical building with minimal energy and water efficiency features. It's used as a benchmark to measure the performance of a building against.

The EDGE Expert Exam is a written test for those who have completed the training program. It tests an individual's understanding of EDGE principles, standards, and certification processes.

The EDGE Standard establishes guidelines and requirements for achieving sustainable building designs. These standards are incorporated within the EDGE App, which helps designers and builders meet the criteria for certification.

The EDGE Exam is independently administered and scored by a third-party organization that is appointed by the EO&M Team.

The EDGE Certification Protocol outlines the process for obtaining an EDGE Certification, which includes everything from initial application to final assessment.

EDGE Affiliates are organizations that have been granted permission to participate in and implement the EDGE Certification program. They play an important role in the wider ecosystem of EDGE.

To become an EDGE Expert, candidates must complete the training program and pass the EDGE Exam. They must also adhere to a contract agreement that outlines their responsibilities as EDGE Experts.

The EO&M Team plays a crucial role in developing and maintaining the EDGE program. They are responsible for administering the EDGE Exam, developing training materials, resolving disputes, and overseeing the overall program.

EDGE Experts must follow the most stringent safety codes, whether national or international, when working on EDGE projects.

EDGE Experts are expected to share concerns from themselves or clients with the relevant EDGE Certification Providers to improve the program.

EDGE Experts are expected to follow the branding guidelines outlined by EDGE for all their communication and materials.

EDGE Experts must report any misuse of the EDGE brand by clients to the EDGE team.

Maintaining active EDGE Expert status requires adherence to the EDGE Expert Code of Conduct and regular skill updates through free training provided by the EDGE program.
