2 Types of Stress

  • Distress: Negative stress. Occurs when situations are overwhelming and coping abilities are inadequate, causing decreased work performance, anxiety, worry, mental/physical health concerns, and unpleasant feelings.

  • Stressor: The cause of stress. A stimulus perceived as a threat.
  • 4 Kinds of Stressors:
    • Bioecological Influence: Biological and ecological factors, like sunlight, gravity, electromagnetic fields, environmental toxins, solar radiation, and noise pollution.
