Communication Process
- Sender/Source: the communicator or source of information/message.

- Receiver: the intended recipient of the message.
- Decoding: receiver translates the sender's thoughts and ideas so they can have meaning.
- Feedback: the response generated by the message sent to the receiver.
- Noise/Interference: something that interferes in the transmittal process.
Models of Communication
- Linear Model
- One-way communication.
- Used for mass communication.
- Senders dispatch messages and the receiver just receives.
- No feedback.
- Can include the concept of noise.
- Can be a good method for audience persuasion and propaganda settings, leading to intentional results.
- Communication is not continuous with no concept of feedback.
- No apparent way to know if communication is effective.

- Encourages non-verbal communication.
- Cons include more noise because communicators talk simultaneously.
- Feedback is taken/used as a new message.
- Interactional Model
- Used for new kinds of communication like on the Internet.
- Slower feedback in turns can be a disadvantage.
- Includes concept of field experience.
- Feedback is included, even in mass communication.
- Provides both sender and receiver new communication channels.
- Feedback can take a very long time.
- Sender and receiver might not know personally, the other person .
- Communication becomes linear if receiver does not respond
- Known as convergence model.
