Vaccination Program for Children

  • The Philippine government has adopted a comprehensive and mandatory immunization program for vaccine-preventable diseases in infants and children.
  • The program aims to cover diseases such as tuberculosis, diphtheria, tetanus, pertussis, poliomyelitis, measles, mumps, rubella, and hepatitis B.

Vaccine Schedule

  • BCG (Tuberculosis): anytime after birth, protects against TB meningitis and other forms of TB
  • OPV (Poliomyelitis): 1st dose at 6 weeks old, 2nd dose at 10 weeks old, 3rd dose at 14 weeks old, increases protection against polio
  • Pentavalent (DPT-Hepa-Hib): 1st dose at 6 weeks old, 2nd dose at 10 weeks old, 3rd dose at 14 weeks old
  • Hepatitis B: 1st dose within 24 hours of birth, 2nd dose at 6 weeks old, 3rd dose at 14 weeks old
  • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella): 1st dose at 9 months old
  • Other vaccines: Japanese encephalitis, Varicella, Hep A
