    Study Notes

    Scapula

    • Situated at the level of 2-7 ribs
    • Flat bone with 2 surfaces, 3 edges, and 3 angles
    • Margo superior: shortest and thinnest edge
    • Margo medialis: longest edge
    • Margo lateralis: thickest edge
    • Angulus superior, Angulus lateralis, and Angulus inferior are its angles

    Extremity of Scapula

    • Extremitas sternalis: articulates with manubrium sterni
    • Extremitas acromialis: articulates with acromion
    • Corpus claviculae: middle part of scapula

    Fossae of Scapula

    • Fossa supraspinata: thin bone
    • Fossa infraspinata: lies below spine of scapula
    • Cavitas glenoidalis: shallow cavity for humerus head
    • Linea interspinalis: at the level of T4 vertebra
    • Facies posterior: posterior surface of scapula

    Ligaments and Muscles

    • Lig.suprascapularis: lies in incisura scapulae
    • N.suprascapularis: passes through transversum scapulae superius
    • M.biceps brachii caput longum: muscle inserting on radial tuberosity
    • M.triceps brachii caput longum: muscle inserting on olecranon
    • Labrum glenoidale: cartilage rim around cavitas glenoidalis

    Clavicle

    • Early ossification, last to complete
    • 15-17 cm long, 2 cm wide
    • Extremitas sternalis: articulates with manubrium sterni
    • Extremitas acromialis: articulates with acromion
    • Tuberositas ligamenti coracoclavicularis: for lig.coracoclaviculare
