Check-In Deadlines
- For international flights, the acceptance deadline is 60 minutes before the scheduled departure
- For domestic flights, the acceptance deadline is 30 minutes before the scheduled departure
Passenger Departure
- A maximum of 20 infants can be accepted on AIR CAIRO A320 aircraft
- Two infants cannot be accepted with one adult as a standard rule
- The standard maximum allowance is 10 infants for ATR 72 aircraft.
- For E-190 aircraft, the maximum number of infants is 12
Questions to Ask Passengers During Check-In
- Is this your bag?
- Did you pack your bag?
- Are you sure that no item in it which you did not pack?
- Are you sure that there is nothing in your possession that you have been given to carry for another person?
- Whether you left your baggage unattended for a long time?
- Do you have any lithium battery removed from its device (spare lithium battery) in checked baggage?
- Do you have any electronic cigarettes in checked baggage?
- If a passenger answers "No" to the first 4 questions or "Yes" to the remaining questions, the bag will be searched by authorized security or airport personnel with coordination from AIR CAIRO security officers
- If verbal questions are not possible, a DGR signage with the same message is acceptable
Check-In Procedures
- Check-in agents must confirm that passengers are not knowingly or unknowingly carrying electronic cigarettes and spare lithium batteries in their checked baggage
- These items are only allowed in cabin baggage
- Recharging electronic cigarettes and/or batteries is forbidden in the cabin
- Overweight (>32kg) or oversize (>203 cm) baggage is not accepted and advise customer to repack
Through Check-In
- Through check-in is applicable on AIR CAIRO domestic flights.
- Through check-in allows the passenger to be accepted, and receive boarding passes for the last point of journey & flight, as well as one or more onward flights.
- It should be performed whenever possible as long as passenger travel on board SM Domestic flights, and travel documents shall be checked for all through-checked points
Baggage Tag
- Heavy Tag-placed on items over 23 kg (50lb.).
Check-In Types
- To perform through check-in all the parts of the passenger journey is Applicable on Domestic SM flights only,
Return Check-In
- This applies to AIR CAIRO domestic flights for passengers with return journeys up to 24 hours (plus or minus according to Air Cairo preferences).
- It allows passengers to check in and print boarding passes for both sectors, proceeding directly to immigration or the gate on the return flight without re-checking
- DGR and Security profiling will be conducted as per the applicable location
- Baggage can also be checked for each sector at designated baggage drop counters, passengers should follow DGR instructions
- Conditions include a confirmed booking on both sectors, traveling on AIR CAIRO flights only, reporting at the airport 60 minutes before the return flight's departure, and proceeding to bag drop counters if applicable,
- Failing to show at the boarding gate 15 minutes before departure will result in denied boarding and baggage offloading
Self-Service Check-In
- AirCairo allows self-service check-in under specific conditions:
- Only Web Check-In and Kiosk are applicable, Mobile/Text Message check-in is not applicable
- The passenger holds an electronic ticket with a PNR
- The departure airport uses AirCairo departure control system (Amadeus Altea DCS)
- DGR questions answered to confirm no prohibited items, and baggage tag printing is inhibited
- Passengers must use the bag drop off counter to deliver their bag and receive the bag tag
- Document checks and security profiling are applied
Off-Site Check-In
- Off-site Check-In is not Applicable on Air Cairo flights.
Acceptance of Go Show and Standby
- Passengers without a record on the flight need to be accepted due to booking cancellation, overbooking, or operational/commercial reasons
- The Station or Duty Manager / ground services provider has the authority to accept such passengers
- The station (duty) manager will maintain a list of go-show passengers with reasons for acceptance in the station records
Standby Acceptance Guidelines
- When accepting passengers on DCS standby basis due to being booked but not listed, wait listing or go show, following guidelines must be observed:
- Priority to passengers to complete a family or group.
- Priority to passengers confirmed but not listed on same flight.
- Validity of passenger's entry visa should be taken into consideration.
- Preference to passengers travelling longer sector if seats are available all through to final destination.
- Frequency of flights to destination should be taken into account.
- Standby passenger baggage may be released from check in area, standby label may be used to avoid forwarding to the aircraft.
- Standby passenger's documents must be thoroughly checked Flight controllers and Check in agents will follow Order of priority to on load
- standby passengers according to the following main categories:
- NO REC (ticketed but not booked).
- Waitlisted (WL or RQ status) on the same flight
- Standby or GO-SHOW (open, booked on other flights... etc.)
Handling Transfer Passengers
- Guidelines when accepting transfer passengers
- Identify passengers as transfer passengers according to their booking and via DCS
- Accept them normally after document verification
- Through check-in passenger and Issue boarding passes to final destination
- Issue bag tags to the final destination and mark all baggage with the unique transfer tag (hot, short, transfer) according to the connecting time in the transfer point
- Release all bags to the belt and sorting area
- Ensure transfer baggage is segregated according to type and destination from other types of baggage such as priority or economy baggage
- If the bag is both priority and transfer, is loaded to be offloaded first at transfer point, then recognized as priority from that point
- For every flight a PTM (passenger transfer message) must be sent
Passenger Transfer Message (PTM) Information

Carry-On Baggage Acceptance and Stowage
- Only one piece plus Duty-Free purchases into the Passenger cabin are is allowed
- The Passenger retains charge of the article.
- The cabin baggage must be to within the overhead locker or place don't he floor in front or under the Passenger's seat.
- The weight of cabin baggage must not exceed 7 kg per Passenger, and an item shall not exceed 118cm.
- Procedure: Excess baggage charges apply for additional unchecked baggage, cabin tags must be attached by check-in staff, and prohibited items information is provided
Hold Loading of Duty-Free Goods
- Duty-free items (excluding liquor, tobacco, perfumery, cosmetics, and similar items) are treated as checked baggage
- For duty-free items that are hand baggage type
- Packaged in suitable containers
- Do not require action on the load sheet or balance
- May be loaded in the compartment having minimal balance effect
- The Loading Instruction/Report indicates duty-free goods compartment
- A message indicating the existence of and compartment used for these items shall be sent by handling agent, to the next station.
Flight Documentation
- Flight crew is provided with a Passenger information list (PIL), Final manifest, bag tag list for double destination flights, General declarations (G.D), Cargo manifest, Load Sheet, and other special information
- Flight documents are retained for three months
Passenger Boarding Discrepancies
- Discrepancies must be resolved before closing the aircraft door
- Procedures include locating missing passengers, offloading checked baggage, checking boarding passes, and notifying crew/load controller
- Manual boarding proceeds if no DCS is available

Special Categories of Passengers: Minors
- Minors are classified into Unaccompanied Minors (UM) and Infants/children
- General terms: AIR CAIRO accepts children for unaccompanied transportation with prior confirmed reservation
- An authorized guardian delivers the minor/child at the airport of departure; who remains with the child until embarkation
- An AIR CAIRO UM form for unaccompanied minor has been issued and duly signed
- The UM ticket fare should be adult fare
- AIR CAIRO does not accept infants for unaccompanied transportation
- UM may not travel with pet in cabin, or service animals (unless with 16-years-old escort).
- Visual/hard of hearing (blind/deaf) Unaccompanied Minors, UM or unescorted Young Passengers are not allowed to occupy exit seats.
- Max number 05 UM can be accepted on AIRCAIRO A/C A320, without escort, if more Than five UM, one escort should be requested for each 05 UMs
- Max number 02 UM can be accepted on Air Cairo ATR72, seated in Second Row, (YP Excluded)
- Max number 05 UM can be accepted on AIRCAIRO A/C EMB190, without escort,
Minors On His/Her 2nd Birthday Before 6th Birthday
- Escorted Minors will be accepted for unaccompanied transportation only if escorted by an extra cabin attendant and fare paid by the minors' guardian (applicable adult + one way adult fare); in this case add in General declaration"
- The cabin attendant escorting the minor would return as extra crew or DHC. (He/she should be added in General declaration).
- If escorted by an adult over 16 years old, they are accepted normally, not as UM
- The wording UM followed by age after the Name of Passenger box
Children On His/Her 6th Birthday Before His/Her 12th
- Accompanied to the airport of departure by a parent or a guardian
- Must be seen off and met at arrival by the named adult in the UM form.Carriage of UM shall be permitted only for immediate continuous space, all segments of which have been confirmed
- Unaccompanied minor should preferably travel on a non-stoplight
- Minors can be accepted for transportation without above conditions if accompanied by adult or young (over 12), can be accepted as UM only with procedures
Young Passengers (YP)
- (Optional)on his/her 12th birthday but under his/her 16th birthday will be accepted and may be given UM treatment upon the request of parents or guardians
- Extra service charge applicable and SSR YPAX added to PNR
- At reservation, a declaration form is filled by parents, releasing AIR CAIRO from guardianship liability & detailing escort
Acceptance and Handling of UM, Escorted and YP During Departure, Transfer, and Arrival
- During departure: Check flight for UM, assign front seats, and inform handling/agent, make sure form is filled out, attach UM tag, and verify collection by assigned agent with hand off to CDC ensuring signatures etc.
- During arrival: Check inbound messages, verified handling agent contact, handled per the UM, verify ID
- During transfers check incoming messages
Infant General Information
- Infants must be between 1 week and 2 years old
- Air Cairo Does Not Accept Two Infants With One Adult.
- A mother and father travelling with 2 infants must be allocated cross aisle seats where is known that PSU (Passenger Service oxygen Unit) extra mask exists, for ATR72, it is not required
- If an infant becomes a child on the return flight, accept according to issued ticket

Passengers With Reduce Mobility (PRM)
- Incapacitated passengers are categorized into groupings
- LEGL/LEGR/LEGB: (leg/s in cast) must purchase 2 seats near toilets with leg supported(Extra Seat must be purchased from reservation,SSR required, MEDIF is required)
- MEDA: (medical case) clearance may be required and is not for passengers who require special assistance only
- OXYG: (oxygen) needs oxygen during flights and must include MEDA SSR
- AOXY air carrier owned supply(in-flight only), compliance with Egyptian Civil Aviation Authority Only.
STCR (Stretcher Passenger) for Passenger Traveling on Stretcher
- In an Aft area last three rows window seat on an Aisles, seat one and block 5. Three hours and two for international and domestic flights. (request before boarding)
- The request for an ambulance from immigration is needed after being cleared from: National security, Quarantine, Airport, Police... etc. Hand all over all medical documents to CDC.
- Always Board after the entire Passengers Board
- STCR is installed by adding weight and must be communicated
Passenger Needing Wheel Chair Code
- In addition to WCHR, C, S the following equipment codes and definitions may be used:(WCBD (Dry Cell Battery) WCBW (Wet Cell Battery) WCMP (Manual Power)
- Wet batteries " WCBW" must always be removed and packed in a leak proof box filled with absorbent material.
Limitations on Wheel Chair Codes
- Must be disconnected"WCBD" but not obligatory to remove battery but must be disconnected

Visual/Hearing Requirements in Passengers
- Passengers with impaired or absent vision are carried without escort. Except for Children under 12 years old
