AFP Organization

• The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) is the military organization of the Philippines
• The AFP is led by the Commander-in-Chief, who is the President of the Philippines
• The President is Ferdinand "Bongbong" Romualdez Marcos Jr
• The Secretary of National Defense is the civilian advisor to the President on matters of defense and security
• The current Secretary of National Defense is Gilberto C Teodoro
• The Chief of Staff, AFP commands the AFP and is the principal military advisor to the President
• The current Chief of Staff, AFP is Gen Romeo S Brawner Jr AFP
• The AFP's main function is to defend the Republic of the Philippines and safeguard its national territory
• The AFP also assists the government with socio-economic programs

AFP Organization Chart

• The AFP is organized into the General Headquarters (GHQ), Major Services, Unified Commands, and AFP Wide Support & Separate Units
• The GHQ provides command, control, and direction to the AFP and formulates plans and programs for the Major Services
• The Major Services are the Philippine Army, Philippine Air Force, and Philippine Navy
• There are seven Unified Commands: National Capital Region Command (NCRCOM), Northern Luzon Command (NOLCOM), Southern Luzon Command (SOLCOM), Western Command (WESCOM), Central Command (CENCOM), Eastern Mindanao Command (EASTMINCOM), and the recently activated Southern Mindanao Command (SOUTHCOM)
• The AFP Wide Support & Separate Units include the AFP Personnel Center, AFP Logistics Center, Philippine Military Academy, Inspector General of the AFP, and AFP Medical Center
• Each organizational unit has different functions based on their respective role within the AFP

• The Philippine Army (PA) is responsible for conducting prompt and sustained ground operations
• The PA also organizes, trains, and equips forces for all land operations

Philippine Air Force Mission

• The Philippine Air Force (PAF) conducts prompt and sustained air operations
• The PAF also operates airlift, airborne, and tactical air operations unilaterally or in coordination with surface forces
• The PAF formulates and develops doctrines, concepts, systems, policies, procedures, strategies, tactics and techniques for air operations

Philippine Navy Mission

• The Philippine Navy (PN) conducts prompt and sustained naval and maritime operations
• The PN organizes, trains, and equips forces for all naval operations
• The PN also enforces applicable laws upon the Philippine seas and waters
• The PN formulates and develops doctrines, concepts, systems, policies, procedures, strategies, tactics, and techniques for all naval operations
