Study Notes

The guidelines are categorized under Response Guidelines with the identification number 003.
The guidelines are NIMS compliant and became effective on January 1, 2022.
The guidelines were approved by Fire Chief Alan Wax and consist of 1 page.

The purpose of the guidelines is to provide standardized and predetermined responses to 911 Open Line incidents.
These incidents are classified by Northwest Central Dispatch (NWCD).

The Hoffman Estates Fire Department follows these guidelines, but they can be altered to achieve a more appropriate response based on information received from NWCD or to achieve a faster response based on location and/or status of fire department apparatus and personnel.

The district or closest engine responds non-emergency to 911 Open Line incidents at the request of the Hoffman Estates Police Department.

A 911 Open Line is a call received by NWCD when the person on the other end does not talk with the dispatcher and the line remains open or the call is disconnected and the dispatcher is unable to re-contact the caller.
