Operation
- Assemble nozzle with desired extensions
- Attach hose and shut-off valve (omit if model has built-in)
- Position hardened tip on exterior surface
- Drive nozzle into compartment and open shut-off valve
- Inspect for cleanliness and obvious damage before use
- Attach a short section of hose with a 2 ½” shut-off device (ball valve).
- Find a location directly above the fire and cut a hole approximately 12"x12".
- Lower the nozzle down one to two feet below the opening to clear the joist or rafter
Indirect vs. Direct Attack
- Indirect Attack: Extinguish fire by converting water to steam, using heat absorption to cool the environment. This allows the team to follow up with a direct interior attack and place water on the remaining burning material.
- Direct Attack: Apply water directly to the fire, using water, steam, and thermal disruption to extinguish the fire.
