READINGS IN PHILIPPINE HISTORY NAME: [BITUIN, JIAN] SECTION: [BSED MATH-1A] The History of My Life Every living creature, object, and events that evolves and happen in this world have their own history to tell. Thus, history serves as the foundation of our own unique identity. For instance, just like the important individuals in the figures of heroes, saints, nobilities, and monarchs, I also have a wonderful, significant, and interesting personal account of my origin that deserve to be acknowledge with. At this moment, I wanted to share and open up the pages and the highlights of the book of the extraordinary history of my life starting from the brief background of my family until the current status of my modern everyday living. I am Jian F. Bituin, a twenty years old woman who belong to the younger generation of Bituin clan. To begin with, the ancestors and the preceding generations of Bituin family generally originated in the town of Nagcarlan in the province of Laguna. At this present time, my family along with my first, second, and third order relatives altogether happily resided and build a harmonious neighborhood in the small community known as Barangay Malinao. All of us accumulated enough land in this area where we can have a comfortable life abundant of the resources needed to sustain the daily necessities. However, I also found out that there are huge differences between the structured of living of the predecessors of our clan compared to our way of living in this 21^st^ century. Based on the stories shared by my parents, uncle, especially by my grandmother, I have understood that they have been put through a rough path and situations of lives during the earliest period or era of our country. Furthermore, I am proud to tell that bravery and leadership truly runs in our blood and was observable in the origin of my family. As an illustration, they have revealed to me that my grandfather in my father's side was a respected soldier and member of organization who fight against the Japanese troops who invaded in the small town of Nagcarlan. Because of that, my uncle stated that during those times, they are intended to live in the mountainous area where they can hide and feel much more secured against the Japanese soldiers. I also learned that their staple food was sweet potato and cassava since it was the available resources in the surrounding where they are located. Unfortunately, in March 15, 1988 my grandfather died due to heart attack. Despite of that, his great legacy remains as he receives several honors and awards from the government. His contributions towards gaining the independence of our country were given appreciation since my grandmother became a beneficiary where she was given a compensation of a certain amount of money distributed in a monthly basis. This amount truly helpful in providing our basic needs. After a few years later, my father and my uncle turned to agricultural farming and it become the source of our livelihood up to this present day. This led for us to also become part of the COCOLIFE (United Coconut Planters Life Assurance Corporation) which is an insurance provider intended to help the Filipino cultivators of coconut plant. https://www.cosmo.ph/lifestyle/society-expectations-women-a45-20170317-lfrm
