THE ORIGIN OF MAN Humans evolved over a long period of time and developed more advanced brains, which allowed them to spread out in the world and adapt to their environments to suit their needs. Evolution ● The process by which organisms change from a simple one-celled organism to a more complex organism ● The lengthy process of change by which people originated from ape-like ancestors. ● CHARLES DARWIN a british naturalist who developed a theory of evolution based on natural selection. a. human being, person, the human race : mankind. CHARACTERISTICS OF MAN Vital Characteristics of a Man 1. To have the ability to communicate systematically using words, symbols body gestures/ posture and facial expressions. 2. To make our own decisions and bear the consequences of our actions/likes and dislikes. 3. To make and wear clothing,accessories and other necessities for human life. 4. To become individual in the process of making what we want to become in the future. 5. To think about thinking, to ponder past, present and future. 6. To fit into different personality groups, racial, cultural, religious and political groups. 7. To have government. PURPOSE OF EXISTENCE OF MAN ● is to "evolve" -can continue to live, adapt, learn, and grow ● to maintain a balance on the planet ● to manage for food, shelter and procreation ● to care for not human society alone but all other useful species and elements of nature for our perpetuation and sustainable existence on earth
