Graphic design is the process and art of combining text and graphics and communicating an effective message in the design of logos, graphics, brochures, newsletters, posters, signs, and any other type of visual communication. What is a Graphic Designer? Graphic designers or graphic artists plan, analyze, and create visual solutions to communications problems. They decide the most effective way of getting a message across in print, electronic, and film media Graphic Designer Develop Magazines, newspapers, and journals –Corporate reports and publications –Promotional displays and packaging –Commercial displays and Billboards –Brochures –Company logos and signs –Web pages and multimedia project Introduction to the Design Principles and Vector Graphics Graphic Design is a form of visual communication to deliver a message for an audience. it is the practice of combining visual material, such as text, images, shape, color and the other elements. What Graphic Designers Produce The outputs produced by graphic designers can include two- dimensional spaces and three-dimensional objects. Graphic designers are tasked with giving form to content that is intended to be viewed on devices including computers, smartphones, and other console. What Graphic Designers Produce? A digital graphic designer’s outputs include the following: Print and Social Media Application Kiosk Online Content Design Interfaces marketing materials Virtual Website User Reality Logos design Interfaces Platforms 2D and 3D Motion Game Design animation Graphics Graphic Designers Output Social Media 2D and 3D Website Design Content Animation Graphic Designers Output Application Virtual Reality Game Design Design Platforms Graphic Designers Output Kiosk Interface User Interfaces Motion Graphics Graphic Designers Output Print and Online Logos marketing materials Design Principles Fundamental guidelines for combining individual elements to make consistent and satisfying design. This involves taking various elements and providing proper balance, adding selective emphasis to create a focal point, using rhythm to set mood, and establish unity. Balance Arrange elements within an area. The elements of design such as text, colors, images, shapes, and patterns, carry visual weight. Determined by weight, position and arrangement of elements. Balance Three (3) types of balance 1. Formal Balance 2. Informal Balance 3. Radial Balance Emphasis This design principle directs various elements in a given design to make an element stand out or draw attention. This means the most important information the design is intended to convey. It is also used to reduce the impact of certain information. Contrast the elements of design, such as color and shape, by changing the size of the focal point or subject. Emphasis https://artclasscurator.com/principles-of-design-examples/ Rhythm Visual pattern of repeating elements that creates a sense of movements. Built from elements and the intervals between them. Variation in rhythm can be adjusted by changing the shape, size, color, spacing, and position of elements in design. This change in arrangement helps to promote the mood of design Regular Rhythm This occurs when the intervals between elements are predictable or the elements themselves are similar in size, length, and/or color. Progressive Rhythm This occurs when the sequence of forms or shape is shown through progressive stepped changes in size, length, and or/ color. Some characteristics of elements might have stepped changes, or the interval might have stepped changes. Flowing Rhythm This occurs when the elements or interval are organic. This creates natural patterns that evoke a feeling of the organic movement. Unity It allows the designer to view individual components as (1) cohesive design. Establishes continuity with a variety of elements and promotes consistency within piece. Balance, rhythm, type, imagery, and tone to evoke a particular emotion from the viewer. Can be achieved by using repetition, proximity, alignment or contrast. Unity – Repetition Through repetition of color, size, orientation, texture, font, shape etc., the elements on the design will appear more related to create unity. Unity – Proximity The elements in a design that are close to each other are perceived to be more related that elements that are spaced farther apart. Unity – Alignment Refers to aligning design elements on common axis. Unity – Contrast This implemented whether using color, typography, alignment, or other variation Vector and Bitmap Graphics Vector and Raster Graphics Digital images, graphics can be categorized as either vector graphics or bitmap graphics Raster Graphics or Bitmap Graphics Generated based on an Raster-based image is array of pixels of various scaled, the size of the colors, which together pixel is reduced or form an image enlarged.
