INTRODUCTION TO COMPUTER GRAPHICS COMPUTER GRAPHICS - DAIDA A dynamic and essential field within computing that involves the creation, manipulation, and rendering of visual content using computers. Includes the following: DIGITAL IMAGES ΑΝΙΜΑΤION INTERACTIVE VIDEOS DIGITAL ILLUSTRATION DIGITAL PAINTING AI GENERATED ART When working w/ digital photos, graphic design, logos, other digital images, Raster & Vector are the two most common file types. RASTER FILES Raster files are images built from pixels. The more pixels an image has, the higher quality it will be. Can be blurred or distorted; jpg, png, gif ADVANTAGES OF RASTER FILES DISADVANTAGES OF RASTER FILES Attention to detail. Limited Resolution Precise editing Large File Size Widely compatible Printing Issues VECTOR FILES Use mathematical equations, lines, and curves with fixed points on a grid. Mathematical recalibrates to any size. formula svg, Al, Encapsulated PostScript ADVANTAGES OF VECTOR FILES DISADVANTAGES OF RASTER FILES Infinite resolution. Compatibility issues. Lighter file sizes. Conversion difficulties Plenty of design features. HIERARCHY Create visual hierarchy through things like scale. You need to use visual cues to tell people what to pay attention 2. CONTRAST It create emphasis or calls for attention. These differences make various elements stand out. 3. ALIGNMENT Involves ensuring that every element placed on a page has a specific weight derived from color, size, or texture. 4. REPETITION OR PATTERN Repetition in design can be used in various ways to create visual interest and impact, or build a sense of movement. Regular patterns create a sense of order and familiarity. 5. WHITESPACE It creates breathing room and helps guide the viewer’s eye to the most important elements, by strategically using whitespace. 6. TYPOGRAPHY When combined with other important web design principles, such as layout and hierarchy, good typography can help you and your clients achieve your project objectives. Serif and sans serif TYPEFACE - style of lettering, FONT - variations of typeface, like size and weight 7. PROPORTION Proportion is the relationship between two or more elements in a design, particularly the size and scale of them, too much of a difference in the scale of items can make the smallest items get lost entirely COLOR PALETTE AND THEORY - MCTM MATCH IT - You can match the color in the color wheel. CLASH IT - You can clash two different colors. THE TRIADS - You may try to merge 3 different colors. MONOCHROME TIPS AND TRICKS Know your software, know the purpose of the material, brainstorm and draft sketches, observe trends, follow and master the principles INKSCAPE - An Illustration tool. - Bryan Harrington, Founder and Developer (2003) - A free & open source vector drawing app for Windows, MacOS & Linux - Many users find the tools and features in Inkscape to be comprehensive and suitable for a wide range of design projects.
