SAKSHAM: IL6 WEBINAR for Logistics “Inbound And Rail Logistics” 1 What is Rail Logistics? Rail Logistics transport is a means of transferring goods on wheeled vehicles running on rails which are located on tracks. It is one of the most important, commonly used and cost-effective modes of commute and goods carriage over long as well as short distances. INDIAN RAILWAY ZONES Indian Railways departments and roles Structure : In every zone, the functional verticals are represented by head of departments (HODs) responsible for the respective functions in the zone. Each division has functional staff who report to the geographical divisional managers and functional HODs in a matrix organization and are tasked with the operation and maintenance of assets. Few dignitaries of Railways Head of the division administrative unit and is responsible for the smooth functioning and Divisional Railway manager running of all the operations in the division Chief freight traffic manager Responsible for operation and business development of Indian Railways in the country Performs a significant and major role in all activities of Indian Railways-those which are Senior divisional personal officer directly connected with train operations, safety productivity and earnings, as also the support activities for all departments of IR Senior divisional material manager Distribution of stocks, disposal of scraps Chief medical superintendent Supervise senior hospital management team activities, addressing staff and patient concerns, proactive managing departmental efficiency Senior divisional operational manager Planning, organizing, leading and controling Senior divisional mechanical engineer Looks after maintenance activities of all equipment in Railway Senior divisional signaling and telcom Responsible for all signal and telecom part of division engineer Senior divisional engineer Responsible for looing at crucial tasks within the division Senior divisional electrical engineer Responsible for general, traction operation, traction distribution, electrical Loco shed Senior divisional commercial manager Officer In-charge for commercial department of division Senior divisional safety officer Responsible for executing all safe activities in division WAGONS USED IN STEEL LOADING TYPES OF WAGONS 1. OHE facility is provided from MRDL/BDPK stations for movement of Electric Locomotives till wagon tippler however at post tippler area OHE is being commissioned till HSM. There are 20 Nos operational track line at pre-tippler area for in/out of inward and outward rakes,15 Nos at post tippler area and 3 Nos at HML area. There are 183 Nos change over point to facilitate track change safely and smoothly. Apart from these, there are 13 Locomotives which are deployed for internal shifting of raw material, finished goods and hot metal.. PROCESS OF RAILWAY POWER DETACHMENT… Detachment of Railway power First the air pressure volve of the engine and then wagon side pressure volve must be closed so that work man does not get hurt due to the incoming air pressure. Detachment of Brake pipe from wagon and engine side. Lifting of CBC handle. While carrying any work, it is important to have the necessary safety PPEs in good condition. PROCESS OF EMPTY RAKE FORMATION 1. AFTER COMPLETION OF RAKE UNLOADING,EMPTY WAGONS ARE INSPECTED FOR ANY DOOR OPENING OR ANY DECOUPLING. 2. IF ANY DECOUPLE/KNUCKLE PIN OR ANY OTHER DEFFICIENCY FOUND DURING EMPTY RAKE FORMATION. THEN BEING INFORMED TO RMHS AND GET COMPLIED 3.AFTER COMPLETION OF ALL ABOVE ACTIVITIES,TSM LOCO IS ATTACHED FOR RAKE FORMATION AND BEING DRAWN DESIGNATED TRACK LINE OF PRE-TIPPLER YARD AND INFORMED TO COMMERCIAL STAFF FOR RELEASE. 4.AFTER CONFIRMATION FROM RAILWAY COMMERCIAL,SAME IS BEING INFORMED TO STATION TO PROGRAM RAILWAY POWER 5.AS PER PROGRAM AND AVAILABILITY OF RAILWAY POWER,EOT AND TRAIN CHECKING IS DONE AT PRE-TIPPLER YARD FOR SAFE&SMOOTH EXIT FROM SIDING. 6.
