Design Thinking There’s An App For That Design thinking is one of three key thinking strategies in Technologies. Design Systems thinking thinking Design Thinking Design thinking is the use of strategies for: 1. understanding design needs and opportunities 2. visualising and generating creative and innovative ideas 3. analysing and evaluating those ideas that best meet the criteria for success and planning. Design Thinking When developing solutions such as user interfaces, students explore, analyse and develop ideas based on data, inputs and human interactions. Design Thinking When students design a solution to a problem they consider how users will be presented with data, the degree of interaction with that data and the various types of computational processing. Understand needs & opportunities Is there a problem you are trying to solve? Can you think of a market opportunity to take advantage of? Who are the users? Are there any What are the major user’s needs? constraints? Visualising & Generating Creative & Innovative Ideas Use your imagination and lateral thinking skills. Use your knowledge. Come up with creative ideas. Consider how data can be presented so users can make sense of it. Analysing & evaluating ideas & solutions to see how they will meet needs Analyse and measure performance. What are the Test your strengths and possible ideas. weaknesses? Interview stakeholders to get their feedback. Design Thinking 1. Use of strategies for understanding design problems and opportunities. 2. Visualising and generating creative and innovative ideas. 3. Analysing and evaluating ideas and solutions against needs and criteria for success.
