The Writing Me: Centre: Assignment One Feedback When you make a statement, especially one that you are stating as fact, there needs to be an in-text citation along with it. Providing examples and proof to support your claims are important. A) The housing crisis in Toronto is extreme and inaccessible. Is it extreme? How do you know? What are the stats? Can you compare it to other countries? B) There needs to be more available mental health services for persons with mental illness. What kind of programs? Can you provide an example of a program that is helpful? Can you talk about another country that seems to be doing well in terms of their mental health programming? Be careful about your words and language when talking about marginalized populations and groups of people in general. Saying things like “[insert marginalized group here] is hard to deal with”, is prejudice and offensive. When you are explaining a law, ideology, or a concept, you must explain it in DETAIL. Law: I want to know when it was implemented, why, and the impact it had on your chosen population (positive and/negative). Ideology/concept: DEFINE IT (do not assume your reader knows what socialism/liberalism/feminism is!) Talk about the ideology and how it’s values align with supporting your chosen population. BE SPECIFIC. Use examples of societies that have implemented your chosen ideology and have had positive outcomes for your population.
