The skeletal system is a framework of the human body. There are four jobs of the skeletal system: protect internal organs give shape and support to the body provide movement produce red blood cells The skeletal system is made-up of different parts Bones Cartilage Joints Marrow Bones have a hard outside covering Bones are there made of are about 206 phosphorus and bones in the adult calcium underneath body this layer are nerves and blood vessels Bone Building The hard outside part of the bone is called compact bone the structure on the inside of the bone is called spongy bone Then the cells that recycle bones maintain bones are called osteoblasts The cells that make new bone are called osteoclasts breakdown new bone This activity is a constant process in our bones Cartilage Soft connective tissue like your ears and the tip of your nose the type of this tissue is joints is called Articular cartilage is smooth and lines the surface of the joints Joints A place where two or more bones connect there are different types of joints Synovial Joints they allow for movement such as an elbow or a knee There different types of Synovial joints some examples include: Ball and Socket Hinge Pivot There are over 400 joints that allow for movement. Some places have multiple joints in one place Neck Elbow Wrist Marrow Marrow: soft connective tissue is found There are in the spaces between your two types bone. red yellow produces stores fat blood cells for energy CONNECTIONS TO MUSCULAR SYSTEM CIRCULATORY SYSTEM OTHER BODY SYSTEMS HELP TO PROVIDE PRODUCES RED MOVEMENT BLOOD CELLS
