Summary
This document provides notes and diagrams on the structure and function of the human reproductive system, covering both male and female systems. Diagrams illustrating the components and functions of the male and female reproductive organs are included, along with a summary of sperm and egg cell structure and the details on the functions. Lastly, an activity in the student's science textbook is identified to be completed.

UNIT III-LESSON 1: STRUCTURE AND FUNCTIONS OF THE HUMAN REPRODUCTIVE SYSTEM WEEK 1 (OCTOBER 6-10) OBJECTIVES o Describe the parts of the male and female human reproductive systems. o Describe the functions of the parts of the human reproductive system. MALE REPRODUCTIVE SYSTEM MALE REPRODUCTIVE SYSTEM Testes (or testicles) – main organ of the male reproductive system. It is the oval-shaped organ that lies behind your penis. During puberty, the testes produces sperm (male reproductive cell) and testosterone ( male sex hormone). Penis – the organ for copulation. Scrotum – loose pouch-like sac of skin behind the penis. Epididymis – long, coiled tube where sperm cells are stored while undergoing maturation. MALE REPRODUCTIVE SYSTEM Vas deferens – transports mature sperm to the urethra in preparation for ejaculation. Seminal vesicle - sac-like pouches near the base of the bladder. It makes a sugar-rich fluid that provides sperm with a source of energy and helps with the sperm’s ability to move. Prostate gland – walnut-sized structure found in front of the rectum. Prostate fluids help in nourishing the sperm. FEMALE REPRODUCTIVE SYSTEM UNIT III-LESSON 1: STRUCTURE AND FUNCTIONS OF THE HUMAN REPRODUCTIVE SYSTEM WEEK 1 (OCTOBER 6-10) OBJECTIVES o Describe the parts of the male and female human reproductive systems. o Describe the functions of the parts of the human reproductive system. SPERM CELL AND EGG CELL Each cell contains 23 threadlike structures called chromosomes that carry the traits or characteristics transmitted from the parents to the offspring. Sperm is composed of a head and a tail while the egg cell is a round structure that contains the nucleus. LET’S TRY! Answer What To Do Activity A on page 94 of your Science book.
