Science exam study: Chemistry: What are properties? - Physical Properties - - - Chemical properties: - Physical and chemical change: - - How to tell if chemical change has occurred: - - - - - Most elements on the periodic table are Metals Metalloids are an element that has qualities of both physical and chemical properties The families on the periodic table are Alkali Metals, Alkaline Earth Metals, Halogens, and Noble Gases. A period is a horizontal row of the periodic table A group is a vertical column of the periodic table An Atomic number represents the number of protons in the nucleus of an atom A proton is a particle with a positive charge A neutron is a particle with no charge An electron is a particle with a negative charge A valence electron is a electron in the outermost shell of an atom Noble gases are not reactive because they have full outer shells Halogens and Alkali metals are the most reactive because they don\'t have full outer shells. In order for Alkali metals to be stable they need to lose 1 electron and in order for Halogens to be stable they need to gain 1 electron The reactivity of an atom depends on the number of valence electrons Ionic bonding and compounds: - - Ionic bonding: - - - - - Names and formulas of Ionic compounds - - - - - **Physics:** Light: - - How light is produced: - - - - - - - - - - - Laws of reflection: - - - Biology: - - - - The cell cycle: - Cell division gone wrong: - - - - - - - Specialized cells: - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Digestive system: - - - - - - - Digestive tract: - - - - Tissue - A collection of similar cells that perform a specific function Organ - A structure made up of different tissues working together to perform a bodily function Organ System - A group of organs that work together to perform a major function Cellular differentiation - the process in which cells are specialized to perform a specific function Stem cell - A cell that can divide to form specialized cells Some cells are capable of regenerating such as skin, muscle, and bone cells Nerve cells can not regenerate **Climate change:** Weather is atmospheric conditions in a short period of time. Interactions between water and air on earth and energy from the sun create weather patterns Components of weather: - - - - - - Climate is: - - - - - - - - - - #### 2.
