High humidity slows water evaporation, allowing for consistent hydration and slightly prolonging the setting time. The low humidity accelerates evaporation, causing faster setting but potentially leading to cracking or incomplete hydration. The type of cement significantly affects setting time due to its composition. For example, Portland Pozzolana Cement (PPC) contains pozzolanic materials, which react slowly with calcium hydroxide, resulting in an extended setting time ideal for improved durability in marine or damp environments. On the other hand, Rapid Hardening Cement sets much faster due to its higher tricalcium silicate content, making it suitable for time-sensitive construction projects such as road repairs.
