1. How is you topic related to STEM? - Our topic is related to STEM because we discuss about: Energy Efficiency & Technology (Science & Engineering – Lived Experiences of Appliance Use) Where we examine how residents choose and use energy-efficient appliances, including their awareness of energy-saving technologies. Electricity Consumption & Household Adaptation (Engineering & Science – Behavioral Adjustments) where we focus on how residents adjust their daily routines to manage electricity use, and their decision-making process, like which appliances they prioritize and how they handle changing electricity prices. and lastly on, Financial and Social Impact (Mathematics & Science – STEM-Related Energy Decisions) Where we explore how rising electricity costs influence household decision-making in terms of energy consumption, appliance usage, and budgeting for power-related expenses. 2. Explain the connection of your theory to your study. - We can connect our theory, which is the Capability Approach, to understand how electricity costs impact residents' opportunities, choices, and well-being, and to find solutions that improve their access to affordable energy-efficient appliances, renewable energy, and better energy policies. 3. Why did you conduct this study? - We are motivated to study the rising electricity costs in Mamatid because it is an important issue for low-income families and communities, especially rural ones. Where when electricity costs go up, it can be hard for families to use things like lights, fans, or refrigerators, making it difficult to conduct daily activities and functions. 4. How do you think your study will be beneficial and will contribute to the students, teachers, coordinators and to the school? - It'll be beneficial in the way that it helps students understand how rising electricity costs affect families and shows them real-life examples of STEM topics, gives teachers ideas for lessons about energy and sustainability, helps coordinators create support programs for families, and guides the school in finding ways to save energy and promote sustainability, like using solar power or energy-efficient systems. 5. What is your goal in conducting this study? - the goal of this study is to understand how growing electricity costs impact Mamatid residents' everyday life and well-being, as well as how they manage these difficulties. we aim to find potential solutions that will enhance their quality of life and contribute to the larger discussion about affordable and sustainable energy, such as renewable energy sources and energy-efficient appliances. 6. Why did you choose this topic? - We chose this topic because rising electricity costs are a significant challenge for many families, especially in low-income ones. We wanted to understand how these costs impact residents' daily lives, their well-being, and their ability to access basic needs. 7. What gaps did you intend to bridge with your research? - This research aims to bridge the gap in understanding the socioeconomic impact of rising electricity costs on Mamatid residents by investigating how these financial pressures influence their daily lives and budgeting. Additionally, it will explore how residents adapt their behaviors and utilize technology to manage these challenges, providing valuable insights into their energy consumption habits and coping strategies. By combining these perspectives, the study aims to offer a comprehensive view of the lived experiences of the community in the face of increasing energy costs. 8. Why is your research important in this area? - Our research is important because it focuses on understanding the real-life challenges that Mamatid residents face due to rising electricity costs, which is a pressing issue in many communities. By studying how these costs affect their daily life, well-being, and financial decisions, the research helps identify ways to improve access to affordable energy and promote sustainability. 9. What legal bases can you mention that support this proposed study? - the legal bases that can support this study are: Republic Act No. 11285 (Energy Efficiency and Conservation Act, 2019) This law promotes the use of energy-efficient appliances and technologies to reduce electricity consumption. It explores how residents adapt to rising electricity costs through energy-saving appliances and conservation strategies. - Republic Act No. 9136 – The Electric Power Industry Reform Act (EPIRA) of 2001 This law restructured the power industry to promote affordable, reliable, and accessible electricity for all consumers. It requires electricity rates to be broken down clearly, ensuring price transparency, which helps in understanding the rising electricity costs affecting Mamatid residents.
