The Child and Adolescent Inpatient Treatment Services (C&A) is a 13-bed coed unit, that serves children and adolescents ages 5-17. A multi-disciplinary team approach is used to assess needs in all major areas of function and intervention for the individual child or adolescent. The focus is stabilization of symptoms, the team treats a variety of psychiatric conditions, which included disruptive disorders, mood disorders, anxiety and depressive disorders, posttraumatic stress disorder, and psychosis. Youth receive individual, family, music, art, and recreation therapy as well as schooling. The Mission of the Adolescent Crisis Residence (ACR) is to assist adolescents and their families in resolving a crisis and to avert hospitalization by enabling the youth to remain in the community. The ACR is a 6-bed coed residence. Youth that are referred to the ACR are between the ages of 13 and 18 and are a resident of Broome, Delaware, Chenango, Otsego, Tioga, or Tompkins County. Along with providing a safe environment, the program focuses on problem-solving and goal setting. Staff works with the youth and family to stabilize the situation, determine the problems that precipitated the crisis, and plan the next steps needed to prevent further crisis.
