# Executive Order No. S-34-17 ## Establishment of Mayor's LGBTQ+ Community Advisory Committee ### Purpose: To ensure that the community referred to as the “LGBTQ+ Community” (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, and other sexual or gender identifying communities) is able to provide expert advice and input to the Mayor and City leadership/officials about issues affecting the community. With the formation of this Advisory Committee, the City of Omaha recognizes the valuable contributions this community brings and commits to making Omaha safe and affirming for all. ### Policy: It is the policy of the City of Omaha to seek stakeholder input as to policies, services, and issues that impact and are important to the LGBTQ+ Community. To that end, the LGBTQ+ Community Advisory Committee is commissioned by the Mayor to solicit and provide community input and make recommendations to the Mayor and City leadership as to matters impacting the LGBTQ+ Community. ### Selection and Term Of Committee Members: The Committee will consist of a core group of members recommended by the LGBTQ+ Community Advisory Committee and appointed by the Mayor. The Committee may make recommendations to the Mayor as to additional members to the Committee who represent broad segments of the community with expertise and/or interest in the LGBTQ+ Community. The Committee shall elect a chair, vice chair, and secretary. The Committee shall meet at least quarterly and shall maintain minutes of its meetings to be posted on the City website. The Committee may establish such bylaws, rules, procedures, terms, offices, and reporting as are necessary for the Committee to serve the function identified. ### Effective Date: The Mayor's LGBTQ+ Community Advisory Committee shall be effective on the signing of this Order in accordance with Section 3.17 of the Omaha Home Rule Charter. ### Oversight: The Mayor's Office will have responsibility for oversight and support of this Committee. #### Executive Order #### Establishment of Mayor's LGBTQ+ Community Advisory Committee #### Page 2 BY THE POWER VESTED IN ME AS MAYOR BY SECTION 3.04 OF THE HOME RULE CHARTER OF THE CITY OF OMAHA, 1956, AS AMENDED, I HEREBY PROCLAIM THIS TO BE THE EXECUTIVE ORDER ESTABLISHING AND GOVERNING THE MAYOR'S LGBTQ+ COMMUNITY ADVISORY COMMITTEE.
