Age 8 wrote his own tagalog He mastered 22 languages Arabic Catalan Latin Spanish Chinese English Malayan Tagalog French German Portuguese Greek and etc,. HOME FAMILY PARENTS o Jose Rizal was born on June 19,1861 in Calamba Laguna. o Parents were Don Fransisco Mercado and Dona Teodora Alonso. o Father Rufino Collantes- baptize the baby (Jose Protacio) in honor of Saint Joseph and Saint Protacio. They called Jose Rizal “PEPE” according to Felice Prudente Santa Maria book “In Excelsis” Saint Joseph was Jesus Christ putative father. San Jose name is always followed by the letter P.P for pater putative in Latin. The letter P is pronounced “peh” in Spanish giving nickname Pepe for Jose. They do believe “ Spare the rod, spoil the child.” As catholic they instilled the importance of courteous to others especially elderly. Their love God became the foundation for them to value and respects others rights. Every Sunday they heard mass , before going to bed they pray the Angelus and the holy HOME FAMILY PARENTS Don Fransisco and Dona Teodora had eleven children. FAMILY OF JOSE P. RIZAL Fransisco Engracio Rizal Mercado Y. Alejandra II -was born as the youngest of 13 children to Crilia Alejandra and Juan Mercado on May 11, 1818 in Binan laguna. He is the 4th generation of a Chinese immigrant named Domingo Lamco arrived late 1600. He study philosophy and Latin at the Colegio de San Jose in Manila. He was also elected as Cabeza de barangay. He was a Dominican state tenant and landowner in Calamba Laguna because of the holding increased hes able to built a stone house. However due to failure in agrarian case with the friars, he was evicted from his house in September 1899. He died in Manila on January 5 1898 at the age of 80. Dona Teodora Morales Alonzo Realonda Y. Quintos - On November 9 1887 she was born in Manila as the second child of Lorenzo Alonso and Brigida de Quintos. She attended college of Santa Rosa. She was a remarkable woman with refined culture, literary talent, business woman and the tenacity of Spartan woman. Jose Rizal pinned a poem about his mother “My mother is a woman of higher culture: she is a mathematician who has read a lot of books.” - She died August 16, 1911 at the age “My mother is not a woman of ordinary culture. She is more knowledgeable about literature and speaks more fluently than I do. When I was studying rhetoric , she even corrected my poems and gave me sound advice she is a mathematician who read a lot of books. Her father , the Philippine delegate to the cortes had been her teacher.” -Jose P. Rizal Saturnina Mercado Rizal Hidalgo - was born in 1818 and was the elder sister of Jose Rizal. General Paciano Mercado Rizal aka “lolo clano” -was the only brother of Jose Rizal. He was born in 1851. Paciano passed away in 1930. Narcisa Rizal Lopez -was born in 1852 and was the one who found the unmarks grave of her brother, Jose in the abandoned Old Paco Cemetery. She died in 1938 Olympia Rizal Ubaldo -was born in1855. She married Silvestre Ubaldo and together they had three children. She died in 1887 when she was only 32 years old. Lucia Rizal Herbosa -was born in1857. She married Mariano Herbosa and had 5 children together. She died in 1919 Maria Cruz Rizal -was born in 1855. She married Daniel Faustino of Binan, Laguna and together they had 5 children. Maria died in 1945 Jose P. Rizal -was born on June 19, 1861 Conception Rizal -was born in 1862. Conception did not live very long as she died at the age of 3 in 1865. Josefa Rizal -was born in 1865. she was unmarried live together with her sister Trinidad until death- Josefa was said to have suffered from epilepsy. She died in 1945. Trinidad Rizal -was born in 1868. She remained unmarried and lived together with her sister Josefa. Trinidad was the one who received an alcohol lamp from Jose in which she secretly hid. The “Last farewell.”- “MI Ultiumos Adios.” Soledad Rizal Quintero -was born in 1870 making her the youngest of the Rizal siblings. She married Pantaleon Quintero and together they had 5 children. Soledad died in 1929
