Eco-transport, or eco-friendly transportation, refers to ways of moving around that have less impact on the environment. Traditional vehicles, like cars and buses that run on gasoline, release harmful gases into the air, causing pollution and contributing to climate change. Eco- transport options aim to reduce pollution and help keep our planet healthier. Some popular types of eco-transport include walking, biking, and public transportation. Walking and biking do not produce any pollution, so they are some of the best choices for the environment. They also help us stay healthy by keeping us active. Public transportation, like buses and trains, is also a good option because it allows many people to travel together, which reduces the number of vehicles on the road. Electric cars are another form of eco-transport. Unlike gasoline-powered cars, electric cars run on electricity, which can be produced in cleaner ways, like using solar or wind power. Since they don’t use gasoline, electric cars don’t release harmful gases into the air. Hybrid cars are similar to electric cars but use both gasoline and electricity, which still helps reduce pollution. Eco-transport is important because it helps reduce the amount of pollution in our air, making it cleaner and safer for people, animals, and plants. By choosing eco-friendly ways to travel, we can each play a part in protecting our planet for future generations. 1. What is the main goal of eco-transport? A. To increase the number of cars on the road B. To reduce pollution and protect the environment C. To make cars faster D. To produce more gasoline 2. Which of these transportation options is the best for the environment? A. Driving a gasoline-powered car B. Taking a private jet C. Riding a bike D. Driving a large truck 3. Why are electric cars considered eco-friendly? A. They are faster than regular cars B. They use electricity instead of gasoline C. They require more gasoline D. They don’t need any power to run 4. How does public transportation help the environment? A. By allowing many people to travel together, which reduces the number of vehicles on the road B. By using more gasoline than other vehicles C. By making more traffic D. By increasing pollution 2 Read the text and choose the correct answer A, B, C or D. Recycling is the process of taking old or used items and turning them into new products. Instead of throwing things away, recycling allows us to reuse materials to make something useful again. This helps the environment by reducing waste, saving natural resources, and lowering pollution. Many common items can be recycled, like paper, plastic, glass, and metal. For example, an empty soda can made of aluminium can be melted down and made into a new can. Recycling paper saves trees, which are important because they clean our air and provide homes. The recycling process usually involves three main steps. First, items are collected from homes, schools, or businesses. Then, they are taken to a recycling centre where they are sorted by type—like paper, glass, or plastic. Finally, the materials are cleaned, processed, and turned into raw materials that factories can use to create new products. Recycling is a great way to protect our planet. When we recycle, we reduce the amount of trash that ends up in landfills, which are large areas where waste is buried. Too much trash in landfills can release harmful chemicals into the ground and water. Recycling helps keep our environment clean and healthy. To make a difference, it’s important to recycle correctly. Always check if an item can be recycled before putting it in the recycling bin. By doing our part and recycling, we can help take care of the Earth and create a better future for everyone. 1. What is the main purpose of recycling? A. To create more waste B. To save natural resources and reduce pollution C. To make items more expensive D. To increase the amount of trash in landfills 2. Which of these materials can be recycled? A) Wood B) Sand C) Paper D) Rocks 3. Why is it important to recycle paper? A. Because it makes landfills bigger B. Because it saves trees, which clean our air C. Because it makes paper more expensive D. Because it’s hard to make paper 4. What is the first step in the recycling process? A. Items are cleaned and processed B. Materials are taken to a recycling centre C. Items are collected from homes, schools or businesses D. Items are turned into new products 3 Read the text and choose the correct answer A, B, C or D. The United Arab Emirates (UAE) is known for its hot and dry climate. Located in the Middle East, the UAE has very high temperatures, especially in the summer months. Summer in the UAE usually lasts from May to September, with temperatures often reaching 40 degrees Celsius (104 degrees Fahrenheit) or even higher. During this time, the weather can be very hot and humid, especially in cities like Dubai and Abu Dhabi, which are close to the coast. Some parts of the UAE, like the Hajar Mountains, receive more rain than others because of their elevation. Sandstorms can also occur, especially in the open desert areas. During a sandstorm, strong winds blow sand and dust into the air, making it difficult to see. The weather in the UAE affects daily life and activities.
