Kalinga textile have cultural meanings. Both movements "challenged the existing structures for making, disseminating and viewing art." **4 CATEGORIES OF ART FORMS** **Visual art-** uses any medium to signify the artist's idea, sentiment and imagination. Examples of visual arts: Paintings, Drawings, Sculptures, Photography. **Applied Art-** defined as art that has real-world application as well as functionality Examples of applied art: Architecture, Fashion Design, Wood Crafts, Interior Design **Performing Arts-** which includes dance, music, opera, films, theater, drama, magic shows and stand up comedies. Most celebrated and appreciated form of art **Literary Arts**- includes Creative writing and Literature such as Poetry, Prose and Drama. 1. **Paintings**- applying paint, pigment, color or other medium to a solid surface (support base) 2. **Prints**- two-dimensional art form created by an impression made by a method involving a transfer from one surface to another. 3. **Drawings** -- oldest art forms around and can be traced back to prehistoric times 4. **Photograph**- image created by the exposure of light on a light-sensitive material at some stage during its making. 5. **Craft** - defined as an occupation or trade which involves manual dexterity and skilled artistry 6. **Design** -- applied arts, design comes in many forms, from graphic, fashion, interior, functional to the industrial 7. **Performance Art** -- actions performed by the artist/s or approved performers briefed by the artist 8. **Mixed Media** -refer to artworks that use a combination of materials in their construction 9. **Sculpture** -- sculpture dates back to the Upper Paleolithic period (40,000 to 10,000 years ago) 10. **Installation** -was coined in the 1970s to describe artwork that of any form or size that inhibits a space inside or outside a gallery 11. **New Media** -- which came about in the 1960s, as artists started to experiment with developing technology in their art-making WEEK2 Visual Art- uses any medium to represent the artist idea emotion and imagination. WEEK3 FORM AND STYLE OF PHILIPINE MUSIC. Harana- man woos a women by singing underneath her window at night. Kundiman- love song in this genre ere heavy in poetic emotion. American Influence- Neo-classicism -conservatory of music (e.g tunog lata) Post liberation- Filipino rock (e.g manila sound and folk rock) -contemporary Philippine music. Traditional Music- passed down from our forefather future generation and commonly folk song. GONG MUSIC Flat gong- known as gangsa and played bt the groups from cordillera region. Bossed gong- islam groups from and animist in southern Philippines. Gong -- flat circular metal disc which is hit. Hispanic-influenced music- seen in folk and traditional music. Spanish greatest influence. Rondalla- orchestra comprising two string. Origin in imberian tradition. OPM( ORIGINAL FILIPINO MUSIC)- PHILIPPINE POP SONG Pop music- live band scene Choir music- performing choral groups Rock and Blues-came from the united states. National Artist-rank and title of National Artist in recognition of his or her significant contributions to the development of Philippine arts and letters. -means of a Presidential Proclamation NATIONAL SCIENTIST AWARD-is the highest award accorded to Filipino scientists by the Philippine government. -s (Filipino: Pambansang Alagad ng Agham) GAMABA (Gawad sa Manlilikha ng Bayan Awards)- acknowledges folk and indigenous artists who, despite the modern times, remain true to their traditions. Movement- two-dimensional design as rhythm or through the recurrence of motifs. \- It is also related to line and the direction of the eye \- It can be three-dimensional expressions Line- Oblation (Guillermo Tolentino)- horizontal line, straight diagonal lines (connote dynamism and movement), balance symmetry, formality, grace and serenity Church of the Holy Sacrifice (Leandro Locsin)- circular, angles and position. Color River of Life (Galo Ocampo)- colored bodies, trees, the earth very intense and differently meaning extreme suffering in depleted world. Balete (Leeroy New)- real and light color meaning simplicity of life Shape Binakol (Tinggians of Abra)- geometric shapes, much mathematical precision to achieve the illusionistic effect.
